Dave and Darlene Johnson

David Johnson is Bay Shore Assembly of God's Associate Pastor. We sat down with him recently to ask him some questions about his life, his background, and his family.

Pastor Dave, where were you raised?
From age 5 through high school graduation, I was raised in West Islip and Islip!

What high school did you attend?
I attended Islip High School.

What's your favorite style of music?
I don't really have a favorite.

What's your favorite ice cream flavor?
I don't have a favorite, if its sweet, I love it!

If you could take your wife Darlene out to dinner anywhere in New York State, where's the one place you love to go?
Tavern on the Green, only because its so popular!

What do you order on the menu? Are you a steak, chicken, or fish kind of guy?
I'm more a steak guy, but I enjoy both as long as its low sodium.

What movies do you like?
Ghandi, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, and Babe.

Do you have a favorite movie of all time?
No, but I remember years ago seeing the original Star Wars movie and feeling like I had been transported to another world -- Neat!

Who is your favorite author?
Aside from the Holy Spirit, I don't have a favorite.

What's your favorite TV program?
I don't have a favorite!

What's your favorite sport to watch?
It would have to be Track and Field.

Do you have any particular players or teams you follow?
No!

What's your favorite sport to play?
I still enjoy a game of golf when I can get out!

Let's go on to your marriage. What's your wife's name?
Her name is Darlene (Costanzo) Johnson.

And you guys have been married for how many years?
As of April 2005, we have been married 25 years.

How old were you guys when you got married?
I was 25, Darlene was 27.

How many kids do you have?
One.

And what is his/her name?
Bethany Joy Johnson.

Any pets?
Yes, We have two Chihuahua Dogs.

What's the greatest joy of being a parent?
Spending quality time with Bethany!

What is the greatest strength of your wife?
She has many strengths. She is a tireless worker on behalf of the family!

How long have you been a Christian?
As long as I can remember, I have endeavored to follow Christ!

What's one aspect of ministry that you enjoy the most?
The ministry of the word, especially discipleship issues!

How long have you been here at Bay Shore Assembly of God?
As of 2005, I have 20 years of experience on the Pastoral staff.

What character in the Bible is most inspirational for you?
Aside from Jesus, of course, it would be Joseph. Joseph overcame a lot of obstacles, but was faithful every step of the way. Joseph saw his dreams fulfilled because he was faithful to God.
